Book talk on "San Francisco's Chinatown:  From Suffering to Celebration"

Event:  Book talk on "San Francisco's Chinatown:  From Suffering to Celebration"

Date:  October 28, 2020

Time:  7 pm - 8:30 pm

Topic:  This Zoom book talk will contain a slideshow and commentary to hear about God's hand

of restoration and redemption over San Francisco's beloved Chinatown.  The overview is based

on a newly-released photo documentary book by photographer Dick Evans and journalist Kathy

    Chin Leong.

This talk is presented by Kathy Chin Leong from Peninsula Bible Church, Cupertino.  She

will detail how discrimination, racism, drugs, sex and labor trafficking started when the

community began in the 1800s.  Spanning past to present, the slideshow presents behind-the-

scenes observations of the oldest and largest Chinatown in North America.  See inside

a crowded tenement apartment, see a dragon boat practice led by high schoolers, see

preparations of a Chinese opera, and more.  You will be encouraged and inspired to see

    Chinatown through God's loving eyes.
