H.A.W.K. (Happy Asian Women Knitting

Everybody loves hats! A few weeks ago June gave me 2 bags overflowing with hats, mittens and slippers that she's been working on. Wow! They were nice! Her mother-in-law's yarn stash is gradually being transformed into warm knitted items to help residents and homeless visitors who come to the the CityTeam kitchen for meals.

We have been working on piecing together the tons of granny squares to make blankets for the Heritage Home babies. We have socks, sweaters, and yes, HATS, for them too! It took about 25 grams of yarn to make the baby hat and there's 300 grams in one of those Caron Big Cakes (which I found on clearance at Michaels) ... which will make 10 hats, all different! I'll bring the pattern if anyone's interested in making a few!

In the mean time, Nancy and PaulineH have been busy making more Watchman Hats and Potholders. They are really getting good at it. We can always use more so let me know if you would like to help out. I can provide donated yarn, patterns, and instruction for making these very much needed items. The beige scarf was started by Ursula years ago and finished up by Nancy, making good use of donated yarn and an unfinished project! The scarf will be donated to Heritage Home as well.

Hope to see you Sunday. It'll be fun because we get to see each other and we'll be knitting and crocheting.

Something to think about as Thanksgiing is coming soon!

"Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!  Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Phillipians 4:4-7
